Is there a BOINC team?

With all the outages at borkley, I was wondering if me have a boinc combined team?
It would be good to have one so we don't get fixated on project downtimes. If I crunch for another project I get seti guilt

Most of the big projects have OcUK teams, but we don't want to spread too thinly - that just results in not doing particularly well at anything.

I will second that , in my opinion if you have radeons its milkyway@home, geforce then seti@home - end of story.

Everything I have (all nvidia GPU's) are on milkway@home until seti is fixed, geforce cards are not as fast as radeons on milkyway@home but they do work fine.

But you do need GTX260's or higher for gpu work and the fermi's dont work on that project either (or do they ?)

Good point, but doesn't it work as a combined total for any OCUK project? I have joined and it lists my seti, seti beta, and milky way, so although I can crunch my preferred projects, whatever output I produce goes towards my favoured project and adds to the combined team total at no cost, so its a win/win :D

Nice one Halz, I was having a blonde moment, started searching and realised that I am already a member <facepalm>
Im 20/1498 and to my great annoyance Grimgoth is above me in that one as well...

Seriously though - everyone who uses boinc should join up as it all helps and won't cost any credit as it only includes whatever you are working on..

I'm all for crunching on a second project, can anyone tell me which of the projects above support fermi? If i was to crunch on a second project and both used fermi gpu how would i set a preference for a particular project to use the gpu over the other as i take it both could not be using the gpu at the same time....Thanks

You set it up as a resource share on the web page for your account and boinc runs according to the values set up. It will never try and run 2 projects at once on your gpu...

There is an option in Boinc Manager to switch between projects every xx minutes, by default, if its enabled, its set to 60 minutes.

But I would say dont deviate away from our core projects unless there is no other option, something is better than nothing.

Joined successfully going to let it have the run of a few gtx cards till i get a feel for it.
Question (dont look suprised) i want to use the cpu only on a rig with a fermi card in (which will remain devoted to seti) is it a matter of messing with preferences on milkyway account page, and if i do it's going to stop me using gpu on second machine yes so need to make a home/work pref?
Just curious that once i have attached the only button available on boinc is milkyway web site, i thought you would get all the buttons like seti team/account pref etc.
Sorry for all the questions chaps just want to make sure i get it right and am happy to support Mr Halz Sah in his new found role :D:D

Not sure if you can run both at the same time, one on gpu and one on cpu.
But the options on milkyway@home work the same as they do on seti via your online account preferences.
You could try no gpu on one account and cpu usage limited on the other but its not something I have done so dont know if it would work.
If you have more than one pc running it would be safer to have one on each project.

Thanks for that H much appreciated as allways, one teeny last thing when you highlight the seti project in boinc you get the additional buttons down the side pref/results/computers/team when i highlight milkyway at home all i get is the milkyway web site, i can go to my mway account page and see team from there just makes it easy to keep tabs when its right there in boinc straight to team.
Will mess with settings so i can let mway have cpu time....TBag is on the case:D

Nothing wrong, there are not as many option buttons for milkyway@home.
If all else fails use Boinc Manager to switch between projects every xx minutes, by default, if its enabled, its set to 60 minutes.

Thats right teabag - you can set up different profiles for home/work/school and attach whichever rigs you want to whichever profile suits your purpose.

Fermi does work with milkyway, I have seen posts with people running the new v3 app, but where you get the app from is another matter.

Anything that delays you and Mr Halz from stomping me in the future is a welcome thing :D

Thanks for the pointer Edge i will stick to home/work profiles at the minute, dont think i could handle another optimised apps fiasco just yet!
Halz thanks for that pointer but i couldnt handle that on top of everything else - your talking to someone who left his spoon in a coffee then decided to warm it via microwave.
"Small steps sparks...small steps" :D:D

You're not the only one that has done that...
