Is there a current champion in the GTX 1070 market?

Is there a 1070 card that pretty much outperforms its rivals in almost every factor?

FACTORS
1. price
2. non o/c performance
3. o/c performance
4. Heat on idle and heat on load (ie lowest)

Im edging towards the Gigabyte G1 gaming probably. (around £400 slightly under and over)

But then of course i see a 1080 at an extremely low price of £438 for the MSI GeForce GTX 1080 AERO 8G OC

5. 1080p or 1440p maxed out (if possible?)

I originally thought i wont consider a 1080 because i would only need it for VR and i wont be looking at the VR market again until the new headsets come out (2 years i reckon). And currently i would only game at 1080p or 1440p upscaled. Yeah i still have a 1080p monitor in this day and age :D

edit: dont care about fan noise :D

Personally I really like the Msi gaming x however if you're willing to spend £400 it over id just get a 1080 :)

Have to agree mine is very good for 1440p but should be a £350 card. Then again I think all the GPU'S are overpriced. The Gaming X is cool quiet and fast.

All pascal cards perform the same or at least within a few mhz. The crappy 1080 will be superior to even the best 1070 so if you aren't concerned about noise then get the msi aero 1080.

I have the 1080 gaming X and I had a 980 gaming before that and I have to agree, the MSI gaming cards really are very good. The cooler is just so quiet and efficient.

Would agree with those above - the differentiating aspect between Pascal cards tends to be warranty and noise level of the cooling

The 1080's for a smidge more are the obvious choice. Even one with a poor cooler and little OC potential would beat out a max OC 1070 by a decent margin. The Palit Jetstream is a great card for £425, decent cooler and OC potential, that would be my choice in a heartbeat.

Even I tempt myself until I realise the outlay isn't worth the upgrade from a 980 Ti, the only real upgrade being a 1080 Ti which coats too much considering the amount of gaming I'm doing ATM.

He he, nice try. Just had to fork out for a new TV (went with a KS8000) so my tech budget will be £0 for quite some time! Still, games look great even at 1080p so IR's actually easier on my card.
