Is there a difference when playing games?

Just faster loading times etc...

Not even that to be honest. It's just an interface type, disks have only just begun to fill up the bandwidth available to IDE so there may be some (very veeeeeeery slight) performance issues with running IDE instead but it will be very minor.

The benefits of SATA are many however. You can hot swap drives, it's easier to set them up in a RAID formation normally, and the cables are much smaller.

What I mean is, don't change drives because you think SATA will be faster than IDE because it's not, it's the performance of the actual drive that makes a difference.
