this the card i have but after much help on the forums its bad news and i wondering if maybe theres a card on OC from AMD thats on the same lvl as this but for under £100 which is all i have spare right now

or not sure what i could get on 2nd hand for that price unless i can find the exact model

Sapphire Radeon R9 280X Dual-X OC 3072MB GDDR5

Looking at the relative performance chart on here
With a budget of only £100, you are looking at a RX550 which is only half as powerful as your currant R9 280x and has less ram, unless you spend a little more.
To get something faster than your 280x you would have to go up to a RX 570, it is about 40% faster but it does cost 2.5 times your budget at around £250.

Saying all that second hand would probably be the way to go, you might be able to get a R9 290/x or R9 390/x for just slightly over budget, which would be 20-30% faster.

I would advice you to look at second hand. You will find good cards like R9 290X & 390X with tad more extra. Make you stay away from blower cooler.
Also on *bay you find used one 280X by the tonne for half your budget.

£100 new isn’t going to get you very far unfortunately mate. Even second hand it’s a stretch.

£150 second hand will get you a decent enough GPU. Shame you can’t access the MM really, but the rules exist for good reason.

huge thanks guys for the advice and yeah i would have spent more just as always happens at a bad time but i got 4 years out that card from OC and it as served me well.

so looking for one of these 2nd hand would be good then or if i can find another 280x
R9 290/x or R9 390/x

what is the AMD equivalent of the GTX970 u mentioned fastwunz ?

when i bought my card and full setup in 2014 i paid £230 i think it was for my card 280x, what good card from AMD on OC could i get now please guys? (despite hearing prices going up cos of miners)

wow even 2nd on bay they are over £200 on there for R9 390, is there anywhere on the forums to buy 2nd hand items?
I am afraid you don't meet the requirements to have access to the members market on the forums.

You need to have at least 1000 posts and been a member for more than 190 days.

ok np i understand now.

is this > Asus STRIX Radeon R9 380 4GB Graphic Card on par with my 280x ? think its 18month old 2nd hand as i think it will be ok for my motherboard

Gigabyte Z97P-D3 Intel Z97

Four weeks ago my R9 290 trixx went pop, checked the bay and there was a Asus 390 strix new but no box or accessories he was asking 165 but open to offers, I hit him up for 120 not expecting him to bite but he did. I got the card and it was spanking new and is running like a dream.
Keep looking and don't be afraid to make an offer, you might have a nice surprise, I did.

CEX does two year warranty on their secondhand graphics cards so it might be worth checking online or in a local store.

update: i made a mistake and bought what i thought was an identical one off bay for £70 and when i got it today it was a r9 280 and not a 280X, and once i put the card in which loads to windows desktop no problem i luckily noticed both fans were not spinning at all :( . So now have to wait for my case to be sorted with my comparison pics from sapphire site to prove its not a 280X and footage of me unboxing it and installing to it not working.

Please guys what can i get off OC AMD wise thats similar in power etc to my R9 280X or better for £200 or a lot under :) and i will never buy a 2nd G card off bay again as i have bought all my stuff off OC for the last 8 years new this was just bad timing

huge thanks for any help.

Unfortunately the closest you're gonna get is :

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £258.89 (includes shipping: £9.90)

Well over budget but a decent upgrade. Graphics card prices new and used have been all over the place the last year or so, with the AMD cards effected more than NVidia. Theoretically an RX 570 should be under £200 with a bit better performance than the 280x, but here at least the cheapest is only a few pounds cheaper than the 580 I've listed.
