Hi there peeps,

I just got my first build sorted out with a few problems along the way (Bios update that needed 60 pound from a shop lol)

Anyway's as this is my first build i dont have much knowledge as im just sort of learning as i go along so ill give ya what i know :)

Windows Vista 64Bit
ASUS M4A79 Deluxe
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition
OCZ Reaper 4 GIG blister - OCZ2RPR10664GK
1TB Caviar Black HDD
1 GIG XFX 4890 HD
850W Thermaltake PSU Modular

Now the problem i have is this, i actually feel that my computer is not running the way it should seems a little slow and a lot of the times it will hang and give me a not responding error which i feel can not be correct for a new system right? I also have tried installing a game i play and when i click the installation file it takes like 5 mins just to load up? i thought being quite a powerful processor there wouldnt be a issue with this kind of thing?

Iv also installed the drivers i found for my mobo, apart from the ones that did not install

what ill do is put the screenshots of CPUZ i have on here also as i have noticed that my ram says 400 at the end not 1066??

Any help would be much appreciated :)

Thanks guys!

Ravvie

Firstly, i'd go on the manufacturer's websites for each piece of hardware you have (including the motherboard), and download the latest drivers for everything. Do a bios update yourself too, there should be a piece of software on the manufacturer's site that lets you update the bios easily from windows.

Secondly, you have loads of crap loading up on start up which is bound to slow ur comp down.
Go to start>control panel>'Changes startup programs'.
When that comes up, click 'Show for all users', and then click on the programs you dont want to start when you turn the computer on, and click 'Remove'. I'd remove MSN, probably catalyst control center as you dont really need it open, and all those other icons at the bottom right that loook pointless :p.

This way, as soon as you log onto your computer, it will be ready for you to load anything you want, and should do so quite quickly.

About the ram speed, it's dual channel, so im pretty sure you double that figure, meaning your RAM is running at 800mhz.
Which obviously isnt 1066mhz lol.
I had this same problem, you will probably have to manually set the RAM to 1066 in the BIOS if you know how to do this.

If anyone disagrees with some of what ive said please say so!
