Is there a way to search Google during a specific year/month?

I am trying to do a background check on a company and I was wondering if there is a way to force Google to give results like it is another year. For example I want results for XYZ but only from January 2009?

Unfortunately I can't share the company name. But I was hoping the Google-Fu of you fellows was strong.

You can set a date range for results - but that won't return results as if its a previous year just the date order things are indexed in now.

You'd have to work with a combination of sites like the internet archive and google's cache, etc. probably to do anything close to what you want.
