really winding me up how everytime i use DSR in a game or even set the resolution in game to a DSR scale i come back to my desktop to find all my icons bunched to the left.

Is there any way to stop it doing this or is it a trait of using DSR

What monitor connection lead are you using, Display Port or HDMI?

I found far fewer issues all round when switching from HDMI to DP, and I can't say I get any problems like the one you describe.

dell U2312HM connected via DVI cable (no display port or hdmi lol)

1920x1080 but i've found myself using DSR on some games as for example metal gear TPP loads more distant detail when using 2560x1440 compared to 1920x1080

whats that? never heard of it
DesktopOK is a program that saves the position of your desktop icons and allows you to restore it easily in case something happens. I use a similar program called Desktop Restore but they both basically do the same thing. Just restore your desktop when you use DSR. It's not fully automatic, but it's as close as you can get.

Make sure 'Auro arrange icons' isnt turned on.

Right click on desktop, view - untick 'Auro arrange icons'.

The icon reshuffling is caused by the change in resolution. It happens regardless of that setting.

Thanks for that installed and one click and puts everything back in place. much appreciated, and saves me manually moving everything each time :D
