I've received animated MMS on my iPhone before, not sure if it was .gif to be precise however.

To the OP, have you tried sending an animated .gif the conventional way? I'd have thought it'd work.

I googled and found a lot of Android users weren't able to do it. You would just end up with a single "still" or unanimated image though I have not tried. There is an iphone app that will do it though

Using Pop(s) at the moment. Going to try a animated gif or convert it so I can send as video.

mysms allows you to send picture messages for the cost of a text (free) i know as i did it today. not sure about gif's though.
