Is there any bad sides to buying a washing machine with a large load capacity ?

I like the idea of having the large load capacity for when washing things like kingsize bedding, curtains ,jackets,my large motorbike cover, etc

Kingsize bedding like duvets,& other really large things, I still take to the laundrette, even easier to wash with their 32kg or 45kg machines.

We bought one of the large capacity Samsung machines a few weeks back. If you look at the instructions, you're only supposed to load it up to its maximum weight capacity on certain programmes.

Well, I guess it depends on how limiting those programmes are. If they are the sort of programmes you'd use when washing the larger items cited above, I can still see the use in it :)

I have an 8KG Samsung, good for stuffing full of bedding and larger items.

There is a quick wash function which uses significantly less water for 15/20/30/40 minutes and then I just stick it on a spin.

I presume by downside you're refering to energy consumption/wastage?

Just wondering if there any downsizes at all when putting small loads like you would normally put in a 6kg washing machine...

As I would only be washing large stuff like bedding etc a few times a month..
And maining using it for the smaller normally loads two or three times a day..

An really not impressed after looking at the max loads for each program from the LG 12kg washing machine

It is a washer dryer, the load capacity quoted will be the drying capacity, not the wash capacity.

The very nature of a washer dryer means you can't dry as much as you can wash.

I would only ever recommend a washer dryer if you don't have the room for separate machines.

Here's my 2p's worth (used to sell 'em in the late '90's )

Washers in those days had drums no bigger than 6KG capacity, any bigger than that is wrong in my opinion. Standard width on a machine is 600mm & has been since the year dot, but over the years drums have got bigger & bigger. Face facts, its a washing machine, not the TARDIS!

Bigger doesn't necessarily mean you can wash more at the same time & it will come out the same as a machine with a smaller drum. 12KG drum is going to be pretty close to the walls of said machine & a full load at full spin that's absorbed most of the rinse water is going to vibrate like a pneumatic drill & wont do it much good if repeated on frequent basis.

I see Oldcoals has posted here. I wonder what would he thinks of what I've said. ;)

Both of them ones I quoted are washing machines only...;)

They don't make a 12kg washer dryer..( of what I know of or seen)
