Is there any hope in this "spec me"?

Subaru Legacy Diesel? (left field suggestion I know, none of the petrols will get anywhere near the mileage you're after)

I reckon I could get away with a wheel or a gaiter. 15 cows worth of leather on the seats and trim might be a problem though :p
 
I was reading some guff about 05+ e class mercs yesterday. One of the lower trim levels used synthetic leather on the seats. Dunno if this occurs elsewhere.
 
You can get a decent Mk5 Golf GTI with cloth and DSG for well under 15k, certainly under 10k if your happy to go away from VW main dealers.

I drove one a while back and after getting out and back into my s2000, sure, the driver dynamics were wildly different, but it was fine and performance was respectable.

Can you get Ed30's with cloth does anyone know?

Anyway I'd only just got in after a day driving round sunny swindon so forgive me (luckily not in my car or using my fuel) :)

Golf GTi was the first thing that jumped into my head for the reason of something that's a bit of fun and does't have leather as standard.

Downside is those god awful tartan/check seats which I hate!
 
I thought most of the 'leather' in Golf's was fake anyway. My mk4 seats are apparently leatherette with only a few stips of real leather (can't really tell the difference to be honest).

The thing is I think it's going to be quite hard to find a good spec car without the leather.

All of the ones with a decent engine will have a decent spec, which means leather.

Passhat could be worth investigating, even if it is very quite rather dull.
 
So after holding out and scoping the BMW Approved Used search since this thread, I finally found a 330d auto with cloth and nav! Navigation was a must in the 3 series but pretty much every cloth interior car was specced with nav because leather seemed to be the priority as far as options go with new buyers.

One popped up at a dealer who called me before advertising it. It's a 2007 330d M Sport auto, sparkling grey with blue shadow cloth/alcantara. The spec list isn't bad considering it has cloth seats. Business navigation, front and back PDC, heated electric seats, CD changer etc. The only option it is missing that I really wanted was xenon lights. I was going to hold out longer but I need to swap the car soon so I had to give in.

I'm aware that retrofitting xenons to the E90 is an absolute pain in the ass. I have seen all in one "plug and play" units available from the US for about $1200. Can anyone enlighten me?
 
You are doing this all wrong Scuzi. You should be purchasing a Certified Pre Owned US market 328i and living there! Don't bring her over here, thats totally backward :p
 
I honestly wouldn't have said the Golf is really roomy in the back for 3 people, well mine wasn't, short journeys only that one, unless the Mk6 is way bigger than the Mark 5, which I doubt if my wifes A3 is anything to go by.

Honda Accord 2.2 Dtec Auto has the cabin space and the Auto on mine was very good, albeit not as good as the DSG in my Golf.
