Is there any point in me getting 2 6970's over these?

These MSI ATI Radeon HD 6950 OC Twin FrozR III Power Edition 2048MB seems to core clock 30 behind a 6970 so to save £100 over buying 2 70's is it worth it? I game at 2560x1600 btw

I would buy the MSI Rev 1's instead, unlock the shaders by modding your BIOS and then OC it passed 6970 levels.

With the Twin FrozR III, you stuck at 6950 shaders but you should be able to OC it like crazy.

If anything, any of these cards will play fine at that resolution for you.

The 6950's you pointed out can easily overclock to the same speeds as a 6970. The shader's cant be unlocked anymore though but they don't make for a massive increase in fps anyway.

Well you can unlock the shaders long as you get a Rev 1 model... which I did only a week ago.

It isn't worth the extra cash for the 70 model tbf

OcUK normally is pretty prominent in showing this off in the product description

Most of he 6950's will say if they are flashable

Its in the product description of two cards on ocuk if that's not a guarantee I don't know what is.
