Hi all,

Is there any real life difference between a Sony Bravia and a "cheap" TV of the same price point? I assumed they were all made with the same panel until you take a large leap in price.

Yes, there's even a significant difference between the cheap supermarket Bravias and the normal ones.

As very few companies make panels, they do tend to cross into budget models. The difference is in the technology behind that, the processing etc, which leaves you with the final image, not to mention better build etc

Entirely depends on what a given individual wants from a TV.

There's always a rapid increase in technology. TV's have been constantly improving almost non-stop as far back as I recall.
