Is there any way I can reduce my brake fade?

yes just get a better set-up. will cost less in the long run.

Erm, No it would cost more. Just because his brakes are not working to 100% of their ability doesn't mean the answer is to upgrade. I'm sure if he changed the fluid and possibly the disks if they are worn below the minimum thickness, the brakes would have a great improvement for around £40 worth of parts.

Lol, the brakes on my 306 DTurbo were also shocking, not to mention the ones on my old 205!

Get some uprated pads, shouldn't cost much at all. Greenstuff supposedly reduces brake fade but i've never used them.

lol 110?

Suprised it goes that fast. I'm not convinced our XTDT would

It will if you have a year to wait ;)

Any of you guys got any ideas what I can do to improve my braking?

They do an indicated 110 (after about 7 years or so of acceleration), they don't do a real 110.

Of course, if you screw mod it, it'll do at least 180mph. :D

Why are people jumping to a conclusion that I meant MPH?

Anyway, I can get 120 indicated near a huuuuge hill near me, screaming like hell though. Thats gotta be quite close to 110 real speed.

Getting a gti-6 in a few weeks though, off the clock at 140 :o

Thats funny you should say that, I let my dad drive my citroen the other day and he commented on how bad the brakes are! They are no better and no worse than when I collected it from the showroom with 8 miles on the clock.

When I was taking cars for SVA tests it was surprising how poor the calibration of the speedo can be and pass. I seem to remember that at an indicated 70mph the car could be doing as low as 62mph and pass the calibration.

Servo working ok ?

I don't know, and I don't know how to test the vacuum pump either, but my mechanic just suggested that. The replacement master cylinder I had fitted a while back wasn't the best but it was awful yesterday.

Don't start again dolph ;)

Christ! My brakes are 30 years old+ and don't suffer from much fade, even when pushing!

I'd change fluid as advised, bleed the system properly, see what's what and then go from there. Sounds like your fluids got a little moisture in it, or a few nasty air bubbles.

the brakes on the 1.4 are very very crap

It was my first car they are paper thin non vented 247mm disks

the 1.6 has 247mm vented disks
the xsi has 266mmm vented disks
the GTI-6 has 282mm vented disks

dunno what the diesels have

I went from 1.6 brakes (drums in the rear) to GTI-6 setup all round (247non vented rear disks)

and wow what a difference
