I'm undergoing a format and I'm just wondering if could back up my passwords?

I've lost track of some of my passwords and FF has them stored.

Cheers :)

I just backup my firefox profile, located in;

Documents and Settings/*Name*/Application Data/Mozilla/Firefox/*

When a firefox install went wrong once, i just uninstalled it, reinstalled it again and copied the profile across. Voila :)

Doesn't that usually somewhat corrupt due to uninstalled extensions and so forth?

I wasn't aware firefox kept hold of the passwords in a single file, if it does then that seems hugely insecure :/

i do this all the time and the guy that posted above is correct.

go to

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\3rryqf6q.default the last bit of the path here with the funny name is always different everytime you install firefox. just mentioning it in case you wonder why yours is different.

copy absolutely everything in the folder and keep it in a safe place.

when you reinstall windows or just have to restore your firefox settings for any reasons, copy the contents of that folder back to its original home in docs and settings and all your passwords, extensions, themes, everything, will be as it was before.

also, you could try mozbackup which has worked flawlessly for me everytime i've used it.

both methods work perfectly.
