Make the change to a BIOS from within Windows? I have to configure a application on lots of laptops that have a power on password. I can configure the app remotely but it requires a couple of reboots so would like to temporaly remove the BIOS password.

You could try a cmos reset on laptops which might wipe password.
I may be wrong but unless you know the password i think you`re stuck(google the laptop name to find out).
Many are pass protected in case they are stolen and to get in requires a very expensive rma to the manufacturer.

Contact Dell technical and see if they have any specific tools.
