Is there anything wrong with drinking tap water?

My g/f insists on drinking only filtered/mineral water, but if I need a drink and can't be bothered to fill the filter up, i'll just go to the sink.

i generally drink from the tap, even tho we have filtered.

some places the water is horrid, some places it tastes ok.

Not really, depends on your pipes I guess but no places really have copper pipes now. Tap water is fine though, depends if you mean toilet tap water then no because it lies in a tank, but mains water is fine to drink. Paranoid people insist on purifying and all that. We aren't in Africa you know.

what i don't get is it filters out rubbish by replacing it with other salts :confused:

depends where you live to if it tastes nicer.

I've never known water to have a "taste" its all the same imo.

It tastes vile here, but I got used to it. In anyway, Sainsbury's sell a 5l bottle for £.99 so if you want something slightly better than tap water get that.

I think it does - I spose I've gotten used to Sheffield water over the years...

When I took a trip to London and had some London tap water, it was totally different!

Or maybe thats just London...

the taste is down to the impuritys in the water, minerals and such like.

I don't drink the filth on tap here in Windsor. It comes out of the tap cloudy and warm and looks like effluent from a factory.

The water back home in Ireland is bloody gorgeous though, it's better than any bottled water.

I lived in manchester while doing a degree.

The Tap water was horrible.

I drank bottled water for 3 years until I got back to the east coast.

Nothing wrong with it at all, keeps your immune system strong

We get pretty good water up here though.

water from the taps is rank here. not sure if it's soton water or just dodgy pipes or whatever. but either way i take no chances. i drink supermarket brand mineral water. buy it in 4 packs of 2 litre bottles.

the only time i use tap water is for cooking / coffee etc.
