ha good one o.O

Ok i have a question ... I have a Gigabyte mobo on this rig albeit the SLi model, GA-M57SLi-S4 to be precise but it is still AMD and i have SLi on here now.
Is there no equivalent for this with 16x/16x on the AM3 socket ?

it is a nvidia chipset motherboard, that takes a amd cpu.

and there is no nvidia equivalent anymore, don't even think nvidia make motherboard chipsets anymore.

edit, theres a couple of old cheap boards here, none support sli

yeah i guess, well what would you recommend ... an ATI card or that mobo ?
i don't mind going over to ATI as long as it's not stupidly expensive for the equivalent card.

change the card.

this motherboard supports proper crossfire at 8X/8X, so its still good

and the memory has some really low timings

well if i change the card to ati aren't i better staying with the Asus crosshair IV seeing as it's 16/16x?

will OC be stocking that AM3 SLi mobo at any point ? is there a way i can see if they can pick one up ?

they won't just get one in for a single customer.

the difference between the two boards isn't worth the extra

yeah i thought as much, ok well i've got some thinking to do. I would prefer to stay with Nvidia for network rendering because my other rig is Nvidia and i think 2 different makes would cause problems.
I'm thinking either of those 2 mobos and the 470 as i probably wont need SLi.

Thanks guys x

:EDIT: Upon reflection the ATI cards for the same price seem to outperform the 470 ... Now i'm in a pickle lol.

Anyway thanks again

the gtx470 is a tad faster than the 5850 (depending on the use), but the 5850 is signifiantly cheaper, uses significantly less power, makes significantly less heat.

On a side note, if you do end up with the MSI NF980-G65, make sure it still uses ddr3 (i think some 980a boards use ddr2), and make sure your cpu is on the support list for it

would that be possible without added cooling ? will i need additional fans for the case, or gpu cooling system ?

it will be easy, no extra cooling needed for the graphics card/ it chucks its hot air out the back of the case anyway.

and the case includes,

- 1 x 140mm Blue LED Front Fan (included)
- 2 x 140mm Blue LED Top Fan (included)
- 1 x 120mm Rear fan (included)

liking the sound of that then :) i'd say i'm pretty much sold lol.
I'll whip up another order and see how it looks, What do ppl think of the monitor/keyboard/mouse ?

the one i suggested, i'll have a look at the benQ now.

The benQ no HDMI sounds nice cause i probably wont use hdmi for the PC cause everytime i do i have issues lol so i'll swap out the HD lead and get a DVI-D instead.

What do you think about the samsung i mentioned to the BenQ (LED Backlit)?

No idea.

All I know is that the BenQ gets mentioned everytime theres a spec me a £160ish monitor/ or similar thread.

P.S i don't have one, I have a 20" samsung, but if needed a new 24" monitor, I would order a BenQ without asking.
