Hi.
I didn't think my contempt for apple could get any lower however I will try not to turn this into a rant.
Is there any way my elderly in-laws can get their iPod shuffle working? (it still works but they want to change their music on it!) . Unlike every other MP3 player they can't just plug into windows and drag and drop and iTunes no longer support it. Apple support tried to sell them a newer device of course however before I buy them (a none apple) MP3 player is there any way to still use this or is it only fit for landfill now?. The woman working their feined shock and said she was not even born when it came out - which is BS, it is getting on a bit but it came out in 2005 and i think they bought theirs just before it was dropped from sale significantly later.

I would have thought if they no longer wanted to support it they would have unlocked it for use as a drm free player but no! :(

Thanks for any advice
Mike

There are several applications that should be able to do it, WALTR2 is the one I found that looks good after a quick google.

Hi
thanks for the suggestion howver WALTR2 cant remove files from a device - it suggests you use itunes which is a bit of a hole in my bucket type scenario.

also it is £40. for that i could buy them a far superior mp3 player. my inlaws at the weekend literally just asked me if i could help them change the music on their shuffle... i was hoping i could do this for free :(

Is their Shuffle one that doesnt have an ipod connector, but a 3.5mm jack with 4 conectors on it?

The good news is its probably gone up in value (according to The Sun!) :)

You may be able to download legacy versions of iPlayer iTunes, although you'll probably find they wont install on anything newer than XP/Win7.

I would get a non Apple device asap.
Andi.
Why? Because a several year old piece of hardware is no longer supported on the most current OS? :o

Would you also recommend that someone buy a Mac because Windows XP/NT/2000 is no longer supported?

On topic... If you can get it to show up in iTunes then you can enable disk mode, which is what you want. Otherwise, just get el cheapo USB MP3 player.
