I just had a call from a mobile number on my house phone. Im ex directory, so they might have just called the wrong number, but this happened the other day too, although it wasn't answered.

Anyway I answered and said hello and they hung straight up. I had the number though, so I rang back and waited till they said hello, then I hung up. :p

Sounded like a young girl or boy? i dunno.

Is there a way to see where this came from online?

i'm sure there's something on the Bt website... But why do you care? It was just a wrong number.

Its rang a few times my wife commented on it the other day, she didnt recognise it as it was listed as missed call.

Phone back and tell them that you're police officer and would like to take some details because their number appears in the phone logs of a murder scene.

Why oh why do bt allow people to withhold their number?

Umm privacy? I'm XD and I don't give out my number to anyone I don't wish to have it. I certainly don't wan't companies 'farming' it automatically simply because I ring them up.

Witheld numbers are only 'witheld' from the consumer anyway, so any abusive/threatening calls can be traced to source in moments by the phone company.

Mystery solved, it turns out its my wifes friend. The cheeky cow hung up instead of having the courtesy to say hello to me.

Gets on my **** that does.

Privacy? Why would you ring someone who you didn't want to be able to ring you, do you ring people you don't like or something? And what company would you be ringing, that didn't already know your phone number? There isn't any reason for companies to harvest phone numbers, when they can dial every number one after the other.

If only that was the reality of it....
