Is there anyway to trace a mobile call online?

Privacy? Why would you ring someone who you didn't want to be able to ring you, do you ring people you don't like or something? And what company would you be ringing, that didn't already know your phone number?

All of my friends and family have my phone number. The only companys to have my home number are my ISP and Phone provider. My bank, utility suppliers, insurance companies etc etc etc only have my mobile number and only then if I deem it necessary.

There isn't any reason for companies to harvest phone numbers, when they can dial every number one after the other.

Lists of legitimate numbers with contact names are as good as currency, there is every reason for them to make a note of this information.

:Witheld numbers are only 'witheld' from the consumer anyway, so any abusive/threatening calls can be traced to source in moments by the phone company.

If only that was the reality of it....

If the call is intercepted by request then it is the reality. Try ringing 999 from a 'witheld number' they will immediately tell the service requested the number you are calling from.

Anonymity is synonymous with longevity.

I hope you don't get defrauded then as the bank won't be able to call you, or the utility companies if they are having problems eg contaminated water.

Try getting your phone provider to block whoever the withheld number belongs to, nightmare.

What a paranoid world some live in. The number of people who use the witheld number function for a legitimate purpose must be <0.1%, while the rest of the users are prank callers and companies trying to sell you stuff, for that reason it should be removed. And is why I have blocked all witheld numbers.

My bank and utilities have numerous phone numbers to contact me on. None are my home number and only 1 is my mobile, the rest are redirects to my mobiles. So that isn't an issue.

Agreed, but my original point stands, the numbers are only actually witheld from the consumer. It's the Telecom providers that need a good kick up the backside on this issue.

Paranoid? Nope, but I do like my privacy. The amount of information the average person unintentionally divulges about themselves is horrific.

You see I don't get that problem, being registered under TPC as well as being XD and not divulging my home phone number to every company that demands it I get exactly ZERO 'spam' calls. And since only friends and family have my number with strict instructions not to pass it to third parties I don't get any cranks either.
