is there more to life then

I've had the long term-job/mortgage/marriage/car etc but that didn't work out for me. I'm now divorced , living alone in a rented flat and going to Uni and I'm far happier now than I was before. Don't feel obliged to fit into a role if it doesn't suit you, live your life the way that makes you happy.

38, no ties, live with parents [we bought the house for them about 10 years a go] apart from replacing bits of the house when needed and the cost of running a car, ITS ALL MINE!!!

No bills, no debt, in a job where if i ddint need money i would do for nothing.. having fun meeting people, driving to new places, learning new things..

or - get married, kids and morgage... aye mate, upto you :)

Colin

At the beginning of the year my girlfriend turned to me and said she wanted to try and have children.
Having only gone out with her for three months and being 20 at the time, I told her where the door was.

It made me think about what I was doing with my life, I'd been in the same job for over 3 years (well paid as it was), I had a mortgage, a dodgy back and a Ford Mondeo.

What did I do? I sold my house, got a bike license and in March I'm riding to Australia through the EU, Iran, Pakistan, India, Thailand, Malaysia and The Philippines.

Must say I'm looking forward to it :)

Now thats living!

Get a blog going mate, love to see how you get on..

Colin - id come with you, but i have no bike and no licence to ride one lol.

Rather than go through years of unhappy marriage just find a woman who hates you and buy her a house! :p

Life isn't measured by what you have or what you do or earn. Your life is measured by the happiness you bring to others. If you can lie on your death bed knowing you have brought love, happiness and laughter to others you should die a happy person.

getting married, having a mortgage, kids followed by the same job until retirement??? (not forgetting the few minutes of happiness you have along the way i.e. wife giving birth, anniversaries, wedding, holidays etc etc)

or is that what most 27yrs old do?

hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Of course there's more to life... this is just what we end up doing in this country as the norm! We can all travel or do anything we want to do, why setle down so young when we don't 'have' to? why have kids so young when we don't 'have' to?

Life is whatever 'you' make it

im 20, got the mortgage, go the fiancee, got the full time job

personally i quite like it this way, i sort of enjoy my job, pitty not having a lot of money every month because of the mortgage bill but ive got no debt so any money after bills is mine to spend as i wish, just not looking forward to the costs of A.wedding and B.kids :(

guess it depends how your mind works as to wether you can live life with those goals or wether you need something more to keep you happy
