Is there something wrong with me?

People are different, crying in the street over a disaster on the other side of the planet is annoying if you ask me, but each to their own, if they need to deal with it like that I'll just avoid them whenever there's some drama going on in the world.
I feel great sympathy for those affected, but not an immediate sadness that takes me over.
Sit me in front of a film like Grave of the Fireflies though and I'll break down for sure.

i am the same as you guys

in fact GARY MOORE the great BLUES guitarist died a couple of weeks ago and i am a massive fan of his but when i was told by my misses (who was acting upset ) i said " realy" " ow well no more going to his gigs then " and that was it

She asked me why im not upset i said "because i dont know him and why would i be if i dont know him"

just cos i like the music etc

I get annoyed at people who act the sad fool as it is all for attention 9 times out of 10 , they want the ahhhhhhh are you ok bull **** and thats annoying

Films have desensitised us, anything lacking an emotive score ends up a bit meh.

This is quite an important point.

The fact that most of what we have seen is on the Television and recorded pictures means that it's the same as watching a tv programme or film. If you have no connection to it and have no experience with such a disastrous situation, you could feel nothing towards it.

On a personal level, I think the really saddening stuff is appearing now. It wasn't see the tsunami destroy everything. It's where they now have footage of people going back to the wreckage, there being nothing but rubble and saying how they don't know what has happened to their Mother, or other family and friends. That's what is really disheartening, could you even imagine if that was you?

Sounds perfectly normal. Could also be that your fairly intelligent and therefore through logical reasoning and thought process are not upset as you realise it wont do anyone anywhere any good?
