Is This a 275 GTX Problem Or Windows 7??

Nah its not that, i never had to have it disabled before i got this new gfx card, plus Crysis does the samething. I even tried running the gfx cards fan at 100% to see if it would stop it from doing it but it didnt. is werid usually when its a gfx card problem the whole PC would freeze up and you wouldnt be able to get back to windows, but with this problem im able to control/alt/delete back to the desktop and close the game down, then the PC is fine

Well RMA'D my BFG 275 GTX OCX yesterday for a refund, and ordered another for a replacement. The card turned up today and plays games fine, so it was the gfx card after all. Hopefully the testers will find the same problems i did too and ill get my refund

Please post back when you get an update from the tester. I have an identical issue with the same game and exact same card; alsowith BF2.

Today I tried the following using BF2:

Ran the GTX 275 card in Win 7 - crash to desktop
Ran the GTX 275 card in Vista (exact set up as I had when using my 7800GT) - crash to desktop
Ran the GTX 275 card in Win 7 with (2nd DVD drive and 2nd HD disconnected - in case of power issue) - crash to desktop

The strange thing is on the first night of using this card I had no problems at all!

Going to test with COD4 now to see if it applies to all games.

What PSU do you have? My issue might be my PSU being marginal for required power - I have an OCZ Modstream 520W (600W peak).

Look forward to hearing how you get on.

I think if it was ure PSU not being up to the task of powering the 275GTx, then you would get the blue screen of death (someone say if im wrong?). i would say 95% its ure gfx card, i didnt think my problem was the gfx card to start of with, as i could run furmark for about 20 minutes and get no problems what so ever, but as soon as i started a game within 5 minutes i would get the stuttering sound and then the balck screen (with sound still stuttering) and then back to the game again for upto a minute and the problem would repeat. Have you tried running furmark and did u get any crashes? If you can, i would say do the same i did and RMA the faulty card for a refund and get another 275GTX

I got a BFG 275 OC last week & its been great since (vista 64bit), hope when i get my preordered win 7 i dont have problems. (CM 850w psu)

Well the problem i had on my RMA'd 275GTX wasnt anything to do with Windows 7 as im running my new 1 i received today on windows 7. Great service i must add, ordered 15:45 yesterday turned up 10:40 this morning

I am going to buy a new PSU tomorrow (Thermaltake 700W W0106RB) as my OCZ Modstream 520W is 3 years old and it may well be that it isn't delivering enough power / watts when the card is stressed whilst gaming. If that doesn't sort it then I will RMA it.

Andy

Fitted the 700W PSU this morning and got the crash with Battlefield 2 so it looks like RMA time. Will stick the 7800GT back in for a bit.

Just checked in Riva Tuner and noticed something that I think is a bit odd. The charts show the core clock (ROP Domain) dropping from 709 to 399.60and then jumping back to 709 almost every 15 seconds, the core clock (Shader Domain) dropping from 1566 to 7990 and then jumping back to 1566 and also the memory clock dropping from 1242 to 297 MHz.

Is this normal for the clock to be jumping around so much?

Tried a few more things today.

Flashed motherboard BIOS to latest version and removed mild CPU overclock - no difference.

Set AA to application controlled rather than forcing 16x. - no difference

Installed previous driver version - slight improvement can play for longer but still get the crash / freeze.

I also interrogated the system logs and noticed that one of the NVidia drivers stops responding and then is restarted - could this be the cause of problem or just a symptom of the problem?

Anyway RMA webnote raised so I will see what happens.

Sounds like u have the same problem i had andy, best to RMA it, and wait for them to get back to you. I sent mine off yesterday recorded delivery, so they should get it monday i guess. Not too sure what the turn round is for them to get back to me

RMA process has started so will update when I have been through the process. I have done a bit of research into this and it appears that the error can occur if the GPU fails to respond in time to a request made to it.

Another update. Wanted to prove it was the card so reduced the core clock from 709 to 690 and no crashes occured. Put it up to 700 and BF2 crashed within 1 minute, put it back down to 690 and no problem.

Looks like my GPU wasn't quite upto the "OCX" level of overclock applied by BFG.

Andy

I doubt it. The reason I say it because you have OCX, and they have been several people who have the highly pre-ovclocked GPUs having similar issues (but with the display driver message) and it's a case of them getting too hot with the fan on auto and crashing. GPUs can be very fussy with the clocks, ie it can get much hotter with a lower clock and be fine, but will tip up at a lower temp with a higher clock etc.

He shoots, he scores :p

You would be able to RMA it if you wish :)

Seems strange, did yours ever crash on furmark, as mine didnt but they played up in games

Hi.
having the same problem with mine too. real nuisance as it's been letting a lot of friends down as i can't play games, so game nights are cancelled untill i get it replaced. That is if overclockers replace it. Hope they do, even asked bfg support and they reckon it's broke.
anyone else notice that it was even worse playing online?

Right, got an email from overclockers this morning, say that they have credited my credit card, so they obviously found a fault with my gfx card, happy days. Hope you guys get the same out come

RMA status has updated to "Replaced", however, doesn't look like they have any in stock so not sure how long I am going to have to wait.

Andy

Its seems this is getting a common fault with the bfg gtx275 Oced cards mines giving the same problems waiting on BFG to give me a RMA number to send it back

cheers Dave
