i have just replaced two computers for someone, they used to by XP but are now Vista

since i replaced them i cant get on the internet properly, some sites work without the www

ie bbc.co.uk works but www.bbc.co.uk does not

is this a DNS problem. and am i right that i need to get the dns servers from the isp and put them in the router?

thanks in advnace.

Not everyone likes OpenDNS. You can usually find your ISP's DNS servers via a quick internet search.

i have the correct DNS and it does not solve the problem

tech support at bt is trying to tell me its a browser problem

have you tried different browsers?

Do you have the DNS set to obtain automatically? It seems there are issues with Vista ultimate and doing DHCP properly out of the box. Not sure about the other versions. might be worth setting static DNS to be 100% it's not a DNS client issue.

But if some sites do the www for you and some don't it's probably not DNS. Well not at your end anyway.
