this is my first time purchasing a gaming computer, i decided with pre-built since knowing myself i would probably mess it up.
i had a budget of around £500 and this is what i came up with;

AMD X4 Raid" AMD FX-4 4100 3.6GHz DDR3 Quad Core Gaming System
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-344-OE

and the upgrades were
Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) HDD
MSI HD 7750 2048MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

altogether it comes to £485, i was wondering if thats the best build i can get for £500?

also i was wondering if i could get better specs if i created the pc myself? and if so if anybody could help me out with that to get?

I wouldn't be buying it.
Crippled 7750, pretty naff CPU when it launched and it hasn't exactly aged great (And it's not even 2 years old)

You're looking at a 7790/7850 system with an FX6300 at that price.

ok thanks for the info
Get somebody to spec you a PC for you to build in the general hardware section, you will get much more for your money!

oh ok, i was going through the threads and i assumed this was that section thanks

is there anybody in particular i can pm to move this thread or should i just create a new one?

Just start a new one with your budget and people will give alternatives. You'll definitely get the best PC self built.

Can't really improve on that spec for the money. If the OS is needed I'd save up rather than cut back on the spec.

Avoid that particular OCZ PSU which is overpriced. It is not even officially 80+ efficient, has high ripple and poor load regulation:

It is a low end HEC PSU(not even one of their better ones).

Luckily it is not in stock and I would look at this PSU instead:

Sadly,OcUK does not stock the XFX PRO 450W and 550W as these are under £50 and are made by Seasonic.

Also looking at the motherboard, you need to make sure you get the later versions of the UD3 as they have LLC. Otherwise, this Asus would do the job:

I'm never sure of the quality of the £30-£40 PSUs. Until recently ocuk had the XFX 450w at £40 - not sure where it's gone.

I'd go for the Asus EVO R2.0 myself, it's proved very reliable.
