is this a good psu for a 3070

What’s the rest of the system? I run a 750W platinum with a stock 8700k and it’s fine, but with another more hungry cpu maybe not.

No problem for that CPU it has lower TDP than the 8700k.
One tip - if it’s a 2 power cable card use 2 individual cables from the PSU and not 2 connectors on 1 cable just to be safe
