Yep this looks like a queen wasp, I should know, my dad is a wasp.

This just flew into the house. It sounded like an arcing 11kV transformer at first. Took 4 solid whacks with the wife’s left croc to kill it good. Is it a queen wasp? My dad doesn’t kill them for a living so I don’t know. Chupa Chups for scale.

That wasp is not dead, it is merely resting.
