Is this a sign of hardware failure?

Only 30 minutes ago I installed the latest Nvidia drivers, after using NVSlimmer with default settings to reduce the bloat in the 430.64 drivers. As I usually do after installing Nvidia drivers, I restarted my PC using the Start Menu. Instead of restarting, the PC shut down then turned back on again and with the BIOS reset to default settings.

Luckily I have my BIOS settings stored as a profile and on a USB stick, so I was quickly able to restore my settings. Suspecting the motherboard battery, I turned the PC off a few more times to see if my settings would be lost - but all seemed normal. It was as though the PC didn't like something that the Nvidia drivers did, so reset the BIOS settings to default.

I have the following hardware:
  • Asus H270F motherboard with the latest 1205 BIOS
  • Intel i5 7500 completely at stock settings with no clock or voltage changes
  • Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti
  • Creative X-Fi Titanium
  • Samsung 970 EVO Plus
  • SATA harddrive and optical drives
