hi guys & girls,

Rite i got my first and new SSD the other day, install al my stuff i want on it. Now looking on the forum what you are ment to do before you
install windows and stuff i forgot to enable ACHI mode in the bios first, i've just enable it.

I've been reading on other froums that it was ment to be enable before you install windows! does this make a differents or not? or have
i got to format my ssd and install windows again?. I know your not ment to format a SSD but how do i remove my stuff of it so i can?

Don't need to format/install, that side of the drive doesn't change regardless of which driver interface mode you use to access it.

Presumably you followed the steps to both activate the AHCI mode in Windows and in the BIOS during a reboot cycle (else it's expected to error on the next boot up). Some SSD manufacturer guides even advise doing it this way around (IDE first, switch to AHCI afterwards) as it has been known to be problematic in some setups trying to go with AHCI from the start.

Should you need to at some point in future, you can (and should) quick format SSDs, as this only wipes out the file tables (things that know where to find the files on disk) and not the content, if your intention is to do an OS reinstall. However, you don't need to at this moment.
