Hi, I have around 1800 to spend, I already have a 1080ti and will wait for the 3080ti to come out, I'm looking to make an sff setup to move around the house...

I've never had an AMD + Nvidia setup, would that work? any advice welcome!

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,574.87 (includes shipping: £11.10)

What is the PC for exactly, is it just gaming or?

Right off the bat I'd say the RAM and NvME are a waste, you can get on par/better for a lot less money.

Can't speak for the rest given I've not much experience with ITX builds.

I'll be gaming, streaming and a lot of video editing

thanks, you are right on the nvme, it was pcie 3 when the board supports 4 so got a cheaper version

The ram not so sure though, any suggestions? I updated to the cheapest set of 64gb, but not sure if that will sacrifice performance for capacity

should I be waiting for the gen 4 ryzen?

64GB is a LOT of Ram, are you sure you'll need it all? I know little about video editing, but wouldn't you be using 4k and an hour+ video files to even look at over 32GB? This site suggests 32GB is more than enough for 4k stating:

32GB- With this amount of RAM, you will be able to edit all kinds of files, including 4K. At the moment, it is known to be the optimal RAM capacity which offers most advantages you are going to need. In a nutshell, you won’t need more than 32GB of RAM for some time at least.

I dunno.... I'll see what my load is like later I don't think I'll be saving much in comparison though...

will the PSU fit the dan a4? it states it's SFX-L, I'm guessing that means large....?

one problem the psu selected is a sfx-l and wont work with the 92mm aio, I've had the dan a4 and the 92mm aio installs under the psu, and let me tell you a standard sfx psu and the 92mm aio is a real nightmare to fit, so a sfx-l will have 0% chance to fit with the 92mm aio.

depending on how big your gpu is the 120mm bracket you've selected wont fit either, that bracket installs on the gpu side of the case and if used your max gpu size is around 170mm at best

check out my build i did a while ago and see the pics i posted, build specs very similar to your plans

Edit, overclocking a 64gb set over 3200mhz could be tricky so if you can opt for 32gb kit rated to run at 3600mhz out of the box :)

You have pretty much what I'm gonna build. do you have a build path for it? I wasn't sure to wait for the next gen ryzen but that's in september... waiting for new 3080ti is bad enough...

i ended up going back to a full atx setup, i missed my all core 4.4ghz+, i was curious to see just what could be done in such a small form factor and the result's were amazing.
building wise i left the gpu till last and installed the motherboard, cpu, ram, ssd's first, then i tackled the psu and aio install, wont lie it was a real pain in the a** to do but after many test fits it all worked out, i ended up routeing the 24pin cable into the gpu chamber then back under the motherboard to fit, only way to do it with the 92mm aio installed.

don't worry about the next gen chips as the x570 with a bios update will allow the new chips to run, when they are released, the 3900x is still a monstrous chip that will do it all XD

i too am waiting for the next gen nvidia/amd cards :)

EDIT

I'LL BE HONEST REGARDING GPU'S IN THE DAN A4 ITS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO OPT FOR BLOWER STYLE COOLERS, I FOUND OUT THE HARD WAY AND INSTALLED A FE 2070 SUPER AND MY CPU TEMPS WERE HORRENDOUS (85 DEGREES+)

WHEN I BOUGH A 2080TI BLOWER CARD AND PLAYED AROUND WITH FAN SPEED AND POWER TARGET MY CPU WOULD GET AROUND 70 DEGREES MAX WHICH IS A LOT BETTER

so am I safe to order?

I don't have a blower card yet, did you undervolt the gpup?

i didn't undervolt any of the cards, but with my 2080ti i did set a max power target of 80% in msi afterburner and in doing so the card ran around 65-70 degrees under load and the heat was expelled out of the case vs the 2070 where all the heat was dumped into the case.

i mean as long as your willing to sacrifice a bit of performance from the gpu the dan a4 is a fantastic option for a small case, i'd rather have slightly lower frame rates rather than cooking something important and having to spend more to fix it.

what gpu exactly do you have?

I'd happily sacrifice 5% for better temps, I generally don't overclock, but something portable is more important as it will be moving from room to room.

I have a Dan A4, and the AIO. I don't think the AIO will be up to the job of cooling the 3900x, though it will depend what you plan to use the PC for, gaming, maybe, productivity / video editing etc, likely not. I have it cooling a 4 core Xeon, which peaks t about 50w, and it is fine, before that I tried it with a 9700k, and it was unable to cool for benching etc. and that peaked at about 120w. you could try undervolting, I did, and it improved the situation a bit, but was still not reliable enough for my work use case.

you will need an SFX, not an SFX-L otherwise you will never fit the cooler and cables in, I also recommend custom cables, unsleeved to aid with this. it is a very very tight fit between the AIO fan and the PSU.

Also change the AIO fan for the noctua fan which comes with the LI9, this runs at 2400hz, whilst the noctua supplied with the AIO peaks at 1800hz. it makes a difference.

The AIO bracket you mention isnt need for the 92mm AIO, and wont work with it, it sits where your 1080ti will go, it is a case of one, or the other.

This pic was taken with the 9700k in, but you get the idea re. space between the PSU and the AIO fan and the custom cables. (The 9700k is now in a Ghost S1). I am not actually a great fan of the Dan, CPU cooling options are really poor compared to other similarly sized ITX cases, but you can make it work with some comprimises.

that's some good info, what cooler should I go with for the 3900x?

I guess I'll wait for a ghost s1 then, it's my preferred case next to a sidearm t1 but none of them are available at the moment which is stopping me from pressing buy. and when I say not available, not here or any of the competitor sites. and I've been burned from preorders before. I think I'll get the ghost S1 as it's my favourite looking and lian li are good at production so will likely supply faster than the sidearm or dan.

that noctua looks suffocated... I'm getting claustraphobia just looking at it (left one)

is there a reaason why they have the pipes on the back of the case rather than closer to the mobo? it would cut a lot of tubing....
