Having a discussion at work about the type's of people we would date.

I said i wouldn't go for a girl who didn't work full time and have her own things, like car, money etc as i wouldn't want her depending on me.

Does that make me shallow?
 
I don't think it makes you shallow to dismiss people before you starting dating, however if you dumped an existing partner because they lost their job then perhaps it would.

I didn't realise love required material accoutrements, this is probably where I have been going wrong.

Well it depends on the what you mean by "car, money etc"

Assuming you mean just someone who is self sufficient then no, that is perfectly reasonable and is probably the case for most people.

If you mean "earns X or more and has a nice car" then yes, that would be kinda shallow.
 
I don't think it does at all. I have dated girls who have no real drive and things just don't work out in the end.

I've been with my partner for 4 years, who has the same drive and goals that I do. Our relationship works, we're a team and a partnership. Found my perfect girl. :)

I don't think it makes you a shallow person, just because you are in a relationship with someone it doesn't automatically require you to be their keeper
 
When I was on the dating scene, I would only go out with girls who had nice bangers and were likely to put out quickly, does that make me shallow?
