Is this difference between temps of cores a big problem?

Just recently built a new computer with an e5200, overclocked to 3.6Ghz. The thing is, at idle, one core is at 40 and the other at 30, and under load its close to 52/44. I figure since the temps are still both pretty low its not really a big deal?

Might be worth one try of re-seating the CPU/HSF

I shouldn't think so personally. If on load one core woul be 40 and the other 70 then I'd worry. My Q6600 has differences in its cores as well.

Having said that it is a bigger difference than I have. As previous poster said, try reseating maybe?

Yeah I would, but the only problem is that it would be the biggest pain. I have a Tuniq Tower and an antec 300, and i cant actually reach one of the corner thumbscrews to unscrew it while the motherboard is in the case lol, so it might require taking the whole damn board out...

I wouldn't bother then, if your temps are all good, then why bother? That's my opinion.

Well the temps are okay on both. If you want to even out/ lower temps, then lapp the cpu and cooler, this will void your warranty though (as does overclocking anyway)

I'd be more concerned if one core had a much larger delta than the others. Then you've probably got a seating issue..........or a dodgy CPU/temp sensor!

More than likely to do with one core being used more than the other, I have a Q6600 and my idle temps at 3.2GHz are 32 28 28 28. Even though its 'idling' there are background processes going on within Windows.
