I have just received an email from a friend. Is it for real or a hoax.

In order to avoid the risk of obtaining a fine and points on your driving licence; take note of the following:

M1, M25 and the M11 will be equipped with Point to Point speed devices from August 1st 2009.

Once you enter the M11 for instance, you pass a camera that takes a photo of your car and registration number and records the exact time, upon exit another camera takes a photo of your car and registration number, and records the exact time you leave the motorway. The Cameras are set at fixed points. With both the start time and finish time, a computer is able calculate the time it has taken for you to travel between the two fixed points, and works out your average speed and how many miles you may have travelled over the national speed limit and if you have completed the clocked journey too fast you are given a speeding ticket.
At the present time the national speed limit for motorways is 70 M.P.H. For every minute that you drive over the speed limit you will incur a fine of £30, and one point on your licence. The fines will be issued automatically but the MOT will be allowing a variance of 10% for 3 months, which gives a top speed of 77mph until the end of October 2009.
The MOT will at a later date add cameras at all exit points along the motorways. Remember that now with the new legislation; fighting speed camera fines is almost impossible. You must prove the device is faulty and if you are not a technician working on them, you have no chance of beating the fine.

Be Warned!

Clincher "for every minute that you drive over the speed limit".

It can't be that specific, as it would depend on how much over the limit, how long you were on the motorway for, etc etc.

Hoax.

Hoax.
And aren't the Ministry of Transport going to struggle a little to allow 10% leeway for a while/add new cameras, seeing as they don't exist any more?

Whilst that is a hoax, do they not have speed cameras along the M1 (I think it is) that take your average speed over a certain distance? I remember a mate telling me he gets past these by hiding at the sides of lorries as he drives past them or something like that. :p

Aye or sit an inch away from the car in front's bumper :p

Hoax.

What if you drive over the speed limit for half a minute?

I cant believe you even need to ask - anything that gets sent around by email like this is always a hoax. I especially like the one about entering your PIN number backwards at a cash machine

On the positive side there are average cameras on the M25 (and slip road on M11) for roadworks. But I doubt that counts.

what if your pin is the same forwards as backwards???

DOES NOT COMPUTE ;)

Although this is a hoax it won't be long before it is true - but with the huge jams you get everywhere it won't matter. An hour stuck in a jam means you could spend the rest of your journey at 100mph :)

LOL. How can anyone believe that, especialyl when points are never given in such a manner.

Also sounds like it was written by a 10 year old.

Yeh so many people at work forward those stupid things round to all users, all the "VIRUS ALERT" nonsense - I always need to send out a reply telling people it's nonsense and not to forward it on

Arrhghhgreh. Pet hate. :mad::mad:

No need to say number afterward!

Sorry, just bugs me at work :p

Lol, good point, never really thought of that. Bit like "MAC code" etc
