is this genuine sell

Microsoft probably has some ways to stop using non official drives anyway... Probably checks serial numbers on Live or something.

I wouldn't mind if we actually did get a full 20GB to use... but we only get 13GB at the most

The drive is actually using a standard SATA connection (both power and data). However, I think the problem is the formatting of it.

I only popped my HDD off once to look at it, I seem to recall that it has some sort of connector between the HDD case and the xbox.
The sata connectors are inside the HDD case.
So if you had no HDD to start with you'd need to make a connection between the 360 and the new HDD. Then you'd need to format it, I doubt it's going to be long before that is possible.

I am sure MS will be selling new 60Gb HDD upgrades before long.
I think MS have a long term upgrade plan for the 360 in terms of functionality and hardware.
An extra $10 for divx support, another $8 for a web browser and so on - that is how I see the unit developing, it makes no sense to allow major criticisms to stand (eg no divx support) and give Sony any possible advantages with the PS3.
360 and PS3 are bound to be compared side to side and if the PS3 addresses niggles like web browsing etc and the 360 still doesn't then the PS3 could claw back some ground.

You won't be keeping demo's you'll delete them once your done with them or buy the full game.

I don't know why they didn't just include a cheap HDD built into all Xboxes - what would it have added to the retail cost, £20?

You can format via the dashboard, why do you think there would be a problem?
because i atleast believe the dashboard etc are all stored on the hdd perhaps? i dont know where else MS could have stored it tbh unless its a ROM chip or something similar.?

What about the Core packs then? They all have the console too you know.

^^ thats how my xbox 1 got banned from xbl i was told :P numbers didnt match any more D: nothing dodgy was on the hd :/ silly banning imo

i know thats why i said a rom chip or something similar. but still the dashboard must be a good few MB's i'd have thought?

Im sorry, just cos its not in stock doesnt mean you go and blow another £30 pounds on one :(

I understand, thats why I bought a premium. My point is, if he really wants a hard-drive thats a legit offer. I am sure he would buy one for £70 if they were common place. Unfortunately demand will always cause a rise in prices.
