Well i have never had ghosting on a monitor before i have just heard the stories about it.

When i am playing a call of duty 4 in low lit areas if i move quickly it looks as if everything has a greenish glow, it is extremely annoying, it is only slightly and is usually around the edges of fences etc.

Sorry for the poor description but i have never had it before.

My response time is 2ms which is what made me think it wouldnt be ghosting

*edit* it is definately something to do with the monitor as i can't capture it in a screenshot

Ghosting is where the outline of a bright object is seen for a fraction of a second when the image on screen is moving fast, behind the direction it is moving in. I bit like looking at a bright light then getting the "imprint" of it in your eyes. 2 ms on your monitor is a good response time and really should not ghost. My guess this is something else, such as driver related.

But doesn't ghosting also mean when the image is on the screen, be it moving or not, is basically on the screen twice, the second time , more feint and offset slightly, - i.e it looks like a ghost image on the screen. The actual data on the screen, or movement has no effect - , but vertical lines produce a more pronouced effect. Most noticeable when using an analogue video connection with crap cables or over too long a distance, it's basically and echo of the signal.

I used a AG Neovo monitor for a few days, and that had the most terrible condition in that when something black moved across the screen, the trail it left would always be a murky green for a split second before it returned.

Could be a deliberate effect the game is doing, like motion blur or HDR or something similar. I've never used a 2ms screen myself but I suspect there is still a little bit of ghosting on them. See if you can spot the same effect in other games.

All monitors have "ghosting" (which is a stupid inaccurate description created by 'tards). Even CRT's have it, it's just so small it's very very hard to notice even for a trained eye.

2ms means nothing and is just a marketing thing for idiots. There is no standard for measuring response times, so manufacturers can test in just about any condition, and either list grey to grey response, or how long it takes to switch a pixel on or off.

And howiepoohs is wrong, it's not just bright objects that can ghost, anything can - bright or dark objects, any and all colours etc...

What you're seeing is almost definitely "ghosting", the fences as you described are extremely good for creating ghosting effects because of the detail and sharp edges. The greenish effect you described is caused when the colour of an object is mixed into another colour right next to it when the camera is moving, darker objects usually cause this greenish blur effect.

I have knocked the brightness down a touch and i havn't noticed it since, is it something that is more common when the monitor is really bright?

Exact same problem with my LG 226 - it's 2ms too but there is very obvious afterglow (or ghosting or whatever you want to call it), when you move fast, or on edges from light to dark areas. Shame, 'cos otherwise it's a great monitor.

Ordered the new Iiyama which is allegedly the best for gaming, so will report back when I get it.

Yeah it is the LG 226 i am using too, only got it the day before yesterday :(

If you want to know what ghosting is, go to your local arcade (usually in bowling arena's) find a really old game with a pretty large monitor, you dont want to see Time crisis 2 at my local centre, looks terrible.

Example of ghosting from my crappy TFT (correct me if im wrong):

and it can manifest itself in a number of ways.. but essentially its just a trail or "imprint" or something that should be somewhere else / disappeared of the screen already.
