Not sure if i can link to ebay but i just saw a 1Ghz Athlon Thunderbird in Slot format (granted, it is very rare) for 300 quid with 'motherboard not included' :D Are they worth anything like that even to a collector? :D Thinking of offering him a tenner with a note saying drugs are bad :p

I imagine he remembers paying that price when it was new, so, naturally assumes it should go for the same :]

You get similar things in the small ads around here; 28" CRT TVs second hand for £200, 4-year-old laptops for £500, etc.

Many people just don't get that electronics devalue faster even than cars :/

Thing what really gets me is the 'motherboard not included' when its from a working system. What the hell is he gonna do with it? :D Also from what i remember Slot A Tbirds had very limited mobo support due to some trace connect problem/timing or something so boards to test might be as rare as the cpu :D

Offered him 8 quid for it, as i honestly have some pcs to be donated and one needs a Slot A cpu as the 750 in it has died due to some muppet installing the heatsink wrong, board is fine. They still make great internet/email machines i suppose, especially with XP and a gig of SDRAM :D

Crap! I threw out an AMD athlon 2000XP with a Gb ZN range board and a geforce 5200fx grfx card. All fully working too! Didn't realise there was a possibility of sum1 being stupid enough to buy it.

Lol i have a 1200 Thunderbird in a Abit KT7A RAID sitting in a draw a few feet from where i am sitting. Good memories of it too ... Motocross Madness anyone :D

So 300 quid eh, for £400 i will sell mine with the mobo or maybe swap for an ATI 5970 ;):P

I notice on a big website where u can also sell ur own new or used stuff, some 1 asking £110 for the new splinter cell game when the company it self selling it at £30 :S

On the topic of old CPUs selling for mad amounts of money, has anyone seen the price of S939 CPUs and mobos on the 'bay? Utter madness.
