A pair of Australian TV sports commentators are in hot water after making allegedly homophobic remarks about male ice skaters at the Winter Olympics.

Eddie McGuire and Mick Molloy's comments include describing routines as 'Brokeback Mountain' exercises and even joked about organisers being shocked at discovering one skater was not gay.

They then added the non-gay skater was unlikely to be controversial and flamboyant U.S. figure skater Johnny Weir - because he wore a black and pink outfit while holding a heart-shaped cushion.

Aussies - or :o ?

Sort of comments I'd expect from my thick as **** brother to come out with tbh

.............*sigh*

Why would it affect anyone who isnt super over sensititve?

In the article its suggested that young gay Australians may be affected by it.

Personally, I don't care what people say and believe in free speech and the rest of it but I fail to see why mocking people for their sexuality is more acceptable than doing it over their skin color.

It's not like women would go near these commentators anyway.

Mick Molloy used to be a funny guy; genuinely witty with great repartee. Sad to see him stoop so low. Eddie McGuire is just a cretinous gimp, so I'd expect nothing less from him.

I wouldn't call this "homophobic", since it does not remotely suggest hatred of gays. But it is juvenile and insensitive.
