Is This Normal Behaviour For A HID Kit?

I bought a HID kit from eBay for £18 and this is the result, is this normal for cheaper kits and can anyone pinpoint what's actually causing it? Cheers.

But no, that's clearly not normal, neither does it look like you went for a sensible colour temperature. Can't tell what car it's on either, but given the glare I'm going to assume no projector lenses either.

It's 6000k but I asked them for a replacement bulb (old one was doing this too), and the replacement they send is whiter that the other one.

Unless your in the car turning them on and off at random then I would imagine it's pretty obvious it's not normal? Headlights shouldn't flash.

As others have said though, they look utterly ridiculous. They are so blue they look chavtastic and I would also bet they aren't in projector lenses. Take them out and put your halogens back in. There are enough people on the road dazzling others with no reason other than "it looks cool innit" without having to add more.

I don't think they have potential to dazzle anyone. They point right at the ground and I can't see where the heck I'm going at night. It's like their reach is no more than 8 meters in front of the car even with high beams on.

You are wrong, it was already bad on the video, the beam pattern is that dispersed, it can "not" dazzle.

They have a metal shield which I'm guessing is to prevent dazzling...

The camera was set to ISO 1600 probably looks brighter than it really is.

They also can't be your bulbs, they are a reasonable 3400k, you've already admitted to having a blue 6000k.

Then why bother? Just buy some good quality osram / phillips +100% halogens and actually get a decent bulb that casts some usable light instead of joining the ever increasing number of people that like to scatter rubbish blue light everywhere but where it's needed.

Then you still didn't get the bulb type you posted above, they are H4 (also available as in your eBay link), which your Focus won't fit. You'll have the H7s which aren't a bi-xenon lamp, so no built in reflector.

Throw it in the bin and buy some normal decent halogens, HIDS and cheap don't mix.

Ford Focus MK1 takes H4, 3 pin bulbs.

The philips ones are good, noticably whiter and brighter than stock without looking like you've strapped a pair of pulsars to the front of your car.

Theres no point going for something that crazy if you arent going to put the time/effort/expense to do it properly and get a usable result that wont annoy everyone else on the road.

I think that without the correct self leveling kit etc that these should be banned. I am constantly getting cars with badly fitted cheap kits shining me in the eyes, normally by some chav either in a golf or a chaved up civic. Besides the fact that they don't work the only place for them is the bin. A decent set of bulbs will set you back more than this kit, perhaps this is an indication of the quality of it?

Get some decent high output halogens. I'd recommend the Philips Xtreme Vision.
