Is This Normal Behaviour For A HID Kit?

Just get some Philips Xtreme Vision plus bulbs from Amazon for like £16 and enjoy significantly better lights that don't dazzle everyone else or mess with your cars electronics. I bet that HID kit will also make your radio all crackly.

Just quoting this so I don't forget to have a look later :)

The default candlelights that came with my car ain't gonna be much cop for those unlit lanes.

Are the Philips XtremeVision Plus still the ones to go for a Halogen replacement or are there high quality HID conversions about now? I also noticed Philips are doing RacingVision - anyone tried those?

Aftermarket kits are still not great TBH.

To be legal they have to have the correct light pattern, be white or yellow light and be adjusted so they don't dazzle anyone. Plus anything over 2000 lumens must be self leveling and have washers. You won't be able to meet the requirement with lenses not actually designed to take HIDs. Even if you pass an MOT, the police might still do you. Also your insurer may decide they are illegal and invalidate your insurance if you have an accident.

The leveling system is not for adjusting headlight angle for bumps, they cannot react that quickly. It's there to compensate for different loads in the car.

Interesting is it just the quality of the kit that makes some of them look like they are persistently flashing you then? I wonder why some cars do and other with factory HID kits don't. There must be something in it?

it's to do with the static level, and often car manufacturers cant seem to get it right either, peugeot and land rover are the 2 most common offenders i've noticed for new cars with over bright/poorly adjusted lights.

There we have it, new stuff being learned. :)
