Is this normal ?

hey guys new here just a quick question.

Im running my e8400 at 3.8ghz(ish) and my core temps seem to be 8-10 degrees apart. so my question is is this normal for a cpu or have i got something wrong :S

Try a program called realtemp it is a bit more realistic in core temps and see if its the same?

try using coretemp first of all, see what that says

hey thanx for the quick replies. im using both coretemp and real temp and i get the same temps. when im on full load running prime both cores go to 44 degrees. just when idle there very differant.

have you got your latest BIOS? Maybe its an old Bios that isnt fully compatible with that chip?

I have the newest bios available. do you think maybe i should re-seat the heatsink? when i installed the zalman i had to use the amd clip method instead of screwing it down could that cause isues?? And will these temps affect anything or is it safe?

Not sure tbh, but as theyre the same under load I wouldnt worry too much about it myself, maybe just a faulty sensor

reseat the cooler and reapply the thermal paste, might just be a dodgy seating

Its normal, some of the Wolfdales have a stuck thermal sensor

thanks a lot for your help guys. didnt think it was a bad thing just wanted to check with u all. i think ill reseat the cooler for good measures though.
