If you haven't already bought this can I highly recommend that you go for a Conroe based system over an X2. I wouldn't bother with SLi or Corssfire unless you are gaming at high resolutions 1600x1200 and above, I'd just get the card now rather than waiting around, it will be a while before DX10 features are fully utilised I'd imagine. I'd also add that personally I don't think Raptors are worth it(especially not the 36gb version) when you can get a Seagate 7200.10 drive that isn't much slower but has getting on for 10x the capacity at the same price.

This is something like the system I'd go for given your budget.

I would go with a conroe based system as suggested by semi-pro waster & rippling.

If you want to save some money you could go with ATI Radeon X1900 XT 256MB GDDR3 card special offer this week, if you only play at 1280 by 1024, with all the extras turned on that would be fine and wait for Jan for new dx10 cards?

Conroe would appear to be the way forward for people building new systems.

Just check out the threads in the CPU forum... amazing overclocks and performance. Good prices too, from OcUK of course :)
