I overclocked my i5 2500k to 4.5ghz but i only changed the multiplyer to 45x. Is this ok?

yep the only thing i changed was the multiplier, before i tried setting the voltage manually to 0.050 and my pc just kept getting the blue screen.

you'd need close to 1.3/1.4V rather than 0.05 :p Unless it was an offset voltage?

Best thing to do is run prime or IBT for a while, download CPU-z and core temp or similar to read the temperatures. Then post up a screen shot so we can see the voltage and temperatures

Ran intel burn test for an hour and it came up as stable, ill try prime now and keep it running for an hour then post some screenshots up

I disabled turbo boost like you said and it managed to stay on 4.5ghz. After 30 minutes these were the readings.

Would you say it looks ok?

Good overclock. Is there a 3770K overclock guide or a users who's overclocked a Intel that could give me some hints. I've overclocked AMD chips before but never an Intel, same rules apply i bet but i learnt something new such as disabling the turbo core. Anything else for someone like me?

I also tried to overclock my ram to 2133, but it keeps showing as 2140. should i just scrap it and take it back down to 1600 or will it be worth overclocking it?

i OC my 3770k to 4.5ghz and i am hitting temps of 80degress on water cooling. Ive either lost the lottery or my watercooling is turd.

Just reapllied my thermal paste using the pea method rather thatn the credit card method. Also set my pump speed faster. Dont want to jump the gun just yet but im seeing a difference i think. Will post after a 2 hour prime test.
