Is this ok?

The a10 was what everybody recommended me when I asked. Take it up with them :p
Don't get me wrong...the A10-5800K is great in its own right...but from realistic/practical point of view, I wouldn't bring myself to spend the same money on something that would be slower on what I use the PC for - which is gaming. Also if you factoring in that you need faster more expensive memory to make the most out of the graphic of the 5800K, it actually isn't cheaper.

But of course, there's the usual argument of "but it is a 2nd hand graphic card". But for around twice the graphic horsepower, it is a worthwhile risk (if at all) to take.

There is one possible situation which I would take the A10-5800K over the Intel route though...it's if I want to build with a tiny mini-itx case such as the Antec ISK 300-150.

In case of any misunderstanding, I would like to clarify that I wasn't addressing your posts, but I was just posting my posts as a general discussion.

As for the H61 vs A75/A85...I think may be you are compare boards of different teirs? I thought H61 more as same teir as the A55, whereas the H77/Z77 more of the same teir as A75/A85...

But one thing the socket 1155 offer which the socket FM2 doesn't...is a proven upgrade path for much faster CPUs. Upgrading from a Pentium/i3 to a i5/i7 would guarantee more than double the performance on the CPU...can we really say the same for whatever AMD has to offer for the next and the last gen of APU for the socket FM2, in terms of CPU grunt?

Marine he took my AMD spec from another thread. I often do suggest people try and find a 2nd hand 1GB 460 and go intel, I've lost count how many times I've suggested it.....of course this is providing one can be found 2nd hand.

The A75/85 mobo is "better" than intels H61 and the A10K is on par with the i3. For budget gaming rigs I do suggest i3 on a entry level Z77 and a 2nd hand 460 (the 7770 is poor value as I often say) but ultimately it comes down to the budget the OP has.

I didn't have a budget, per say. I just didn't feel the need to spend too much on something I will only use for casual gaming and work.
This build will fit me fine, thanks.

No offence taken Marine. You just neglected to mention what mobo you would use with the pentium and the 2nd hand GPU. It is very tricky balancing builds so discussion is always welcome. In a roundabout way i was agreeing with you ;)

The H61 is too basic really, although granted it is cheap, you wont see me spec the A55 either. The CPU upgrade path is a valid point but then you ideally want the Z77 mobo for the i5K overclocking potential. The Z77 will cost more than the A75/85s for FM2 APUs.

For a office machine that will do some gaming the A10K will do him fine. If his gaming habit becomes more serious then a GPU can be dropped in much later (I have a 1GB 460 and refuse to let it go lol), which I would argue is an easier upgrade than a CPU change. I just didn't want the OP to think he had made a terrible mistake.
