Hey guys,

Someone from the bay just sent me payment for an item that im selling. I just got this email from paypal, is this real?

We are sending you this email to let you know that we have received funds of an amount of £XXXGBP from the buyer XXX for the auction item and it will still be pending and can only be posted into your account, once you provide us with some necessary information to complete the payment.Your PayPal ID and the Tracking Number Of Shipment from the postal office are all needed. This is not a request by the buyer but a new policy to safeguard fraudulent transactions going on at the moment.

Once you have got the item shipped through the buyer's requested shipping option, forward the tracking number to our security customer care email at ****************** and also the remaining information and we will go about crediting your account within the next 24 hours.
We look forward to serving more of your business needs in the future.
The PayPal Team.

Of course it's fake.

"new policy to safeguard fraudulent transactions"

So they want to safeguard dodgy transactions?:D

What is the address it came from?

Lol. Send one back in the same vein. Also, send the email to [email protected] They will make a record and investigate it.

Send one back saying:

The tracking number has been confirmed and you will receive your item within the next blue moon.
Thanks,
The PayPal Team.

Im a bit hmm about this as someone posted in another thread earlier they sold a high value item on ebay and the payment was held by paypal until delivery was made to help deter and stop scam artists receiving payment and not sending goods.

In the thread a few uses DID state it was for items over £200 that this seems to be happening.

You only have to read the message to know that it's fake. Presumably an actual e-mail from PayPal would avoid appalling grammar, and would make sense.

"and it will still be pending and can only be posted into your account"?
"a new policy to safeguard fraudulent transactions going on at the moment"?
