Hi, have been reading around about RAID a little and tried to find an answer to this question. I would like to use 3 HDD, one for the OS and two others in RAID 1 (mirrored) to act as data file storage and backup. Now all the info I have found on setting up RAID talks about RAID 0 or 1 primarily and doesnt mention pairing them with a non-RAIDed HDD. Looking at my BIOS, Asus P5B, says I can change the controller from IDE/ACHI/RAID but I dont see where I can combine things.

So do you think its possible, I hope so, am sure its a dumb question but looking for clarification :) thanks

You dont need to include the 1st OS disk as it has nothing to do with your RAID setup.

Just setup a RAID 1 on the 2 disks you want. Install the OS on the non-RAID and away you go.
