Is this price justified for a service stamp?

My Bonnevilles coming up for it's year service. I phoned up Triumph earlier and asked how much it'd be, and what they'd check.

For £155 the service includes:
General check for early signs of problems, safety etc
Plug into diagnostics to check ECU is okay
Change oil and filter

Is it me or is that quite expensive?

The main reason I'd like it serviced is for the stamp incase I sell it in the future. I can tell you I'm not going to, but you never know. I've been told no service history drastically reduces the price. But at £155 a time over 3-5 years, I'd be spending what I'd lose anyway??

I know how to change the oil/filters myself so it'd cost me about £40 altogether. It'd just be the diagnostic and general safety check I'd missing out on.

Worth it?

Cheers.

I think a fair few motor cycles are 'enthusiast' serviced.

It wouldn't put me off if a seller produced receipts for parts rather than an actual service history stamp.

Just state serviced by yourself if you ever sell, main things on a first service would things like valve clearances,oil/plugs/filters/brake pads you can do yourself

I got my first bike at the age of 11 im now 52 and I have only took a bike to a shop twice in all that time.
first time was in 1983 when I couldn't solve a misfire on my old Suzuki A100 and the second time was the free first service on my then new cbr6.
as long as the bikes been looked after I'm not bothered about full service history.
its just a stamp in a book, its doesn't mean they have really done what they say.
£155 is a lot for what is basically just a oil n filter change.
if the bike running ok? then the ecu is ok sounds like they are trying to justify the price by adding what sounds like a pointless test
and surely you know enough to check your bike over yourself, I know I trust me over some person I don't know in a shop

Your bonneville currently has a two year warrenty.

Right up until you don't get it serviced as scheduled at a vat registered garage at this service.

I'm inclined to agree that £155 is a bit too much, unless it's a full on 150 point inspection or something where they have to sign off each point of inspection. Then for all you know they will simply replace oil and filter and do nothing.

I do all my small services my self, and you can carry out a lot of these checks on your own. No need to read the ECU imo... If it has an issue, it would give you a warning light.

For £155 the service includes:
General check for early signs of problems, safety etc :p Prob spends less than 10 mins checking it
Plug into diagnostics to check ECU is okay :pWill take as long as it does to boot the PC/Laptop up
Change oil and filter  Decent oil & filter plus labour 65 quid'ish

I would say 100 quid is fair but just like you I'm stuck & have to go to a Stealer as I want that Dealer Stamp in my Service book.
