Is this processor compatible with my motherboard?

I was all ready to say definitely but actually I'm not sure. That's quite an old board.

Not as useful. but I'm pretty certain this is the processor you want if it is compatible
 
No its not according to the Gigabyte site..

Looks like your board only support AM3 95W or Below Deneb CPUs..

So the fastest CPU it would take would be a AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 945 but you need to make sure you get a 95W and OCUK don't seem to advise either way which theres is... its also overpriced compared and more then the 955!

If you really want a Quad the only one which will deffo work is the 810 by the looks of things...

What do are you looking for more speed in?

Have you considered the 720 BE?
 
So my motherboard can support AM3 socket processors aswell as AM2/AM2+ no matter how powerful they are? Sorry if this is an obvious question, but im new to PCs.
