Is this realistically possible?

We have to do an assignment on Operating systems & Systems Software, the thing is it's about Windows 7, the following we need to cover:

· System Specs
· Boot Process
· Boot Time – From the Windows 7 splash screen.
· Desktop Design
· Performance Issues
· Driver Database
· New features
· Remove features
· Windows 7 versions
· Windows 7 versions and their features

Addition Features:
· System software comparison xp/Vista . Vs. Windows 7
· Application software compatibility
· Multitasking changes/features
· Security improvements (firewall, User access, Anti-Virus etc…
· Networking experience Lan and Wan

Outcomes:
· Identify software tools for system configuration and security
· Identify different types of system software
· Identify the different types of application software
· Evaluate the features of an operating system

Evaluation of Windows 7

· System specs – What does it need to run.
· Boot process – Booting process system files, like NTLDR.
· Boot times – who is discussing how long to boot – review site
· Changes to desktop design – is it or isn’t it?
· Drivers – haven they made the system better for drivers?
· New features – what are some of the new features
· Windows 7 versions – What versions and what’s in them?

Additional Features
· A comparison between XP/Vista and W7 – Such as system files versus system files
· Applications – which application are suitable to run
· Multitasking – has that changed better/worse?
· Security – have they increased it, decreased? Does it have AV or Firewall services, are they better or do we still need third party software?
· Networking – is it easier or no different to Vista?

My concern is the word count... 2000 words, it seems like far too small word count for what we have to do no? I'm struggling thinking how I can narrow everything down, yet to get a merit or distinction you need to discuss everything in detail...

thanks
will.

bullet points could help with a brief explanation on them :p once all your points are set, you can expand on your explanations. Then just change the layout and you should be fine.

I see what you did there lapin ;) but I wouldnt advise it - not with the language patrol around here.

Yep, can do. but sounds like your lecturer is curious about windows 7 but can't be bothered to try it out himself.

Ha!

I think he just wants you to spec him a PC really and beta test Windows 7.

My film teacher wanted my class to create a home cinema system. We had to write the best TV's why, upscaling, best cables, speaker position and everything.

Funnily enough there was nothing about home cinema in the exam boards :S

change the place where you study.... same applies to the op tbh

No. Just do it and find out for youself if you can get it into 2000 words. What are you going to do otherwise? refuse and fail?

Well if I am 10% over 2000 words we get our marks knocked down. I am just going to go along, try and cover a large chunk of this assignment tonight, we have 8 weeks, so I'll hand in a draft to the tutor and see what he says. Just If I go into detail it means lots of word count, more than 2000 IMO and I want to aim for distinction.

That's easier said than done

If I do this properly I'm sure I'll end up with 4000+ words.

If you do it properly then it'll be 2000. Keep it short is one of the challenges with uni (assuming it's a uni assignment). Just write it out how you want, see how many words it is and go from there.
