I needed a hacked 120mm fan connected to the mains so i do as i did before the other one is ok but this new hacked setup is worrying me.

Fan is.

0.33a
12v

The powepack/adaptor is
12v output 0.2a

The pack is a little warmer than the other powerpack that powers the other fan i have.

Just wondering if ill be ok i.e wont blow up or melt etc.

Hacked em by cutting ends off and using a terminal as before.

I would say the power pack wont provide enough juice hence why its hotter as its struggling to keep up the amps are important yes yes volts are to but the power pack is 12v so no prob here.

now if the power pack had 1amp it would be ok I think as the fan will only ever take the right amps it need where as volts is forced into it?.
so only giving it 0.2 not 0.33 you are starving it hence pack is warmer its struggling to keep up.

You're going to overload the power pack by 65%, which is a lot. I would say there is a real risk of burning something out about it, what size fuse is on the plug?

Hmm. So a risk is there eh. Guess ill turn it off then for now till i can look for another in my outhouse cupboard which is where i found that one.

Duno fuse its just some old power adaptor that said dvd on it where the power stuff was. Its a moulded one.
