And also a soundcard won't slow down your gaming performance, might even make it better since it takes the load for processing the sound off the CPU and processes it, itself.
He's not worried about building the pc, just the compatibility of the products with each other. But don't worry the experienced guys at OCuk have that covered for you .
See now what they should do on OCuk is make a page where u can plug in everything your going to buy for ** new system, submit, then it will tell you if there will be any compatability issues. that would be good.
I own many Maxtor hard drives, some of them are yeeeaars old (The 30gb one cost 80 quid at the time)!!! and still clonking away, im not even sure if they will ever go wrong
Odd how everyone is suddenly having problems with them? damaged in the post?
I have had 4 Maxtor DMax 10's fail one after another in the last 3 mths, OcUK have replaced every single one which was DOA, and Maxtor have RMA'd the others. However, as they were in a RAID 0 it was, needless to say, annoying.
A guy above said that the two ati cards or maybe the whole system would get too hot in that case I chose above and that I should go for an Eclipse but when searching the OCUK site I cant find this case?
Anyways I found this one "CoolerMaster Stacker RC-810 - Silver Trim (No PSU) (CA-096-CM)" which looks big, because it looks like you could fit 11 DVD drives in the front. So looks tall and big, which is what I wanted really its £105.69 though so not sure. I wanted one maximum of £50 really. I mean, its only a case right?
Akso another guy above said to get a tagen power supply but which one? he said 580w but theres 2 at that power? and is 580w what you need for this sort of system and will it deffinatly be enough. Because knowing me this system is going to last for about 5 years and I will be connected allot of stuff to it and loads of hard drives, joysticks, scanners, printers, fans etc.
P.S. I should also say that I will oviously be needing a power supply that has allot of cables coming out of it, dont know the technical names. But I will have allot of hard drives and DVD drives that need connecting to etc.
Go for the Modular version, Cables can be added / removed which can keep things tidier. I personally have a hiper R PSU and love it. 580 will be plenty of power for some time.
You'll definitely want a reasonable size case as it will get Very warm with 2 1900 gfx cards, make sure you buy some decent quiet but good air flow fans to keep the internals cool.
The CM Staker is a good quality case and some on here will swear by them, it may only be a case but it's one you will have for a long time. I've had my CM 201 for around 5 years now.
Antec P180 is also a popular case with loads of room.
TBH, you need a quality case to avoid any heat issues which is the major cause of many problems here especially hard disk failure. Besides, a quality case will be easier to work with amongst other things. Therefore, your budget should be around £60~£100 so, maybe Lian-Li PC-60 PLUS Silver Aluminium Midi-Tower Case (No PSU) (CA-041-LL) (Akasa Eclipse can be found here)
You say your 'confident' with putting everything together, but sounds to me like you haven't worked with anything 'new' recently. So, I recommend this excellent guide (nice big pictures)
